Club Captains for 2020 – 2022

The new year sees some changes to the Club Captains. Our male Club Captain is Steve Williams and Vice Captain is Mark Everett. Female Captain is Rachel Smith-Harrison and Vice Captain is Louise Austin. Please speak to them about anything to do with racing, DRRL or the Club Champs.

Reminder – Enter the Charmouth Challenge via the Club and save yourself some money!

The Club has reserved at least 50 places at the reduced price of £16 for the Charmouth Challenge 8-mile off road race, which is a Club Championship race and also a Club social event.

Don’t enter via the race web site as you won’t get the group discount!

If you want to enter the race on Saturday 4th July 2020 (a Club Championship race) and want the Club team discount you’ll need to instead complete your details HERE and make a payment of £16 into the Club account and we will enter everyone into the race. Barry can also take payments in cash/chq on a Club night, but online BACS is preferred.

A coach will also be arranged for the day leaving early Saturday morning and returning back to the LDC late afternoon. Ticket cost not yet agreed but will be subsidised by the Club and will add to the social aspect of the day… The coach will wait for 2hrs after the race to enable runners to enjoy the sea and July sunshine. 2 years ago, when we did the same race, it was one of the hottest days of the year… for those who came last time Barry said he can guarantee A/C on the coach this time!

You can enter through the group entry whether or not you intend using the coach. This race usually fills up before race day. See organisers website for more details https://charmouthchallenge.co.uk/

Coach details to follow. Any questions please email Barry via barry.telling@yahoo.com

Couch to 5k starts on Tuesday 14th January

We have had an overwhelming response to our Couch to 5k (C25K) course and are expecting lots of new and returning runners to be joining us on 14th for the start of the 12 week course. Heidi and Mike N will be leading the C25K course this time, with help from other coaches along the way. The C25K sessions will be at 7pm along with the main Club sessions, so expect the corridor to be a bit busier than usual! Please help us to make all newbies feel welcome and show them what a friendly and supportive Club Littledown Harriers is!

Other events taking place locally(ish..!)

The CapTEN

New for 2020 from Bridport Runners is ‘THE CapTEN’, a 10 mile registered fell run taking in Thorncombe Beacon, Golden Cap and 2,400 feet of climbing.

The CapTEN replaces the Jurassic Coast races, previously held in August, but still covers most of that events 10k course, consolidating the two distances we used to run into the most EPIC 10 miler!

The decision has also been made to move the race to May in the hope of more favourable weather conditions, the start being relocated to Seatown to allow for a larger finish line area.

New for this year will also be a team prize for the fastest club to put 3 finishers over the line. We will also be a cupless race for 2020 to reduce single use plastic usage and littering.

Our Jurassic Coast run may have ended but ‘long live The CapTEN!’ Entries are now live for Bridport Runners new race via Full on Sport https://bridportrunners.fullonsport.com/event/capten-10-mile-fell-run/profile
