The male and female Harrier teams from Littledown 5!
London Calling!
Next week will see the annual bout of rejection for many of us that is the London marathon ballot. As usual there will be Club places available via a separate ballot, which is open to anyone who meets the eligibility criteria and was unsuccessful in the main London marathon ballot. Our number of Club places for the 2020 marathon are yet to be confirmed, but it is most likely to be 2 again. You can read the ballot rules HERE and, should you meet them and be unsuccessful next week, keep hold of that rejection email/letter. More information will be coming out via email and Facebook about the ballot very soon.
Aye aye, Captain!
As per Luke’s email and Facebook post, the very important roles of Club Captains and Vice Captains are now up for election, to take up the role from January 2020. All members have until 20th October to email Luke via lukedowsett40@gmail.com if they would like to put themselves forward for the role of Captain. After this date, names will be put to a whole-Club vote and the Captains will be chosen. The role descriptions for the positions can be read HERE
Be safe, be seen! – Coaches Tip
Please can all members ensure that they are wearing bright colours and reflective/high vis clothing on Club runs from now on, as the nights are starting to get darker. Head torches are also strongly advised, as are flashing lights and anything which helps you stand out and be seen.
Minstead Stinger
On 3rd November we are taking on the Minstead Stinger 10 miler as our penultimate Club Championship race of the year. Over 80 Harriers have entered! Barry has arranged for this race to be a Club social and so there will be a coach to take members to the event and back, at a cost of £4 return. If you would like to reserve a place on the coach please email Barry via barry.telling@yahoo.com – family members are also welcome.
Lytchett Relays
Well done to everyone who took part in the Lytchett Relays this year – a great time was had by all! Dily has provided a write-up for the event (thank you Dily!) which you can read HERE
Party Time!
The Christmas party this year will take place on Saturday 7th December at the Ocean Beach Hotel, the same great venue as last year! Tickets are £27.50 per person and include a 3-course meal. Tickets have been subsidised by the Club. Partners are also welcome to attend. To save your place, please complete the form HERE and indicate your meal choices. You will then be given the option of making an online bank transfer or paying in cash on a Club night. Any questions, please see Laurence or Mike Neal.
Feedback from Littledown 5
Thank you to everybody who helped make Littledown 5 a great success and get us firmly back on the racing calendar! The race was fantastically well received, and the day went brilliantly – even down to the lovely weather! Thank you also to everyone who took the time to send their feedback from the day. The core team have read and discussed it all and this will help shape the event for next year.
Happening locally…
For those not taking part in the Bournemouth Marathon Festival this weekend, we have been sent details of some trail races a little further afield. Based south of Salisbury, SP6 3PB, on Sunday 6th October they have a 10k and half marathon – both trail runs. They describe it as ‘almost not tarmac and great running terrain with wonderful views.’ The website, which has full details and a link for entering, is www.tctr.co.uk
