Marathon Mania

A massive well done to everyone who ran the Littledown Marathon last Sunday. It was a hot day out there and there was a great showing from the Harriers, who all did amazingly well. The feedback from runners was overwhelmingly positive. A huge thanks to James and Greg for organising such a superb event and getting us back on the calendar. Thank you also to everyone who helped on the day or who came down to support.

A successful AGM

Our record-breaking AGM was held last week! Looking at the minutes from previous meetings it seems it was both the best-attended and the shortest AGM to date! Thanks to everyone who attended. Thank you also to Simon and Luke for the pre-AGM hash run. The minutes were sent to all members and the details of the awards presented on the night can be found HERE – well done to the winners and to everyone who was nominated!

Club Championships

Now that we have surpassed 8 club champs races, the leader board will only show your best 8 scores. Don’t worry if you are doing fidelity though – Phil has got you covered and keeps all the scores in his trusty book. Next up is Tarrant Valley 10k on Sunday.

Of the remaining CC races for the year, only Minstead Stinger and Boscombe 10k are still open for entries, so if you need some more to make up your 8 races you best be quick and enter!

Friday night lights

There will be a Harriers social taking place this Friday 5th July starting from 7.30pm at The George in Christchurch. All welcome.

My Tri

For the triathletes among us…Catherine from Wessex Cancer Trust, a community focused charity that provides information and support to local people affected by cancer, has been in touch to say that they have recently launched My Tri, a month-long personal triathlon challenge. You choose where, when and how you complete your chosen challenge, as long as the overall distances are completed within August. You can choose to use a treadmill, stationary bike or embrace the great outdoors so it really is something everyone can get involved in, and the money raised will provide invaluable support to local people living with cancer.

They would love for anyone to join the Wessex Cancer Trust My Tri team! There are also more details on their website at www.wessexcancer.org.uk/my-tri-2019.

They’ve also got a very limited number of charity places for the Virgin Money London Marathon 2020 and ask runners to commit to raising a minimum of £1,750 for Wessex Cancer Trust. To apply please visit www.wessexcancer.org.uk/VMLM2020
