parkrun takeover and C25K

The C25K course has just completed week 3 and things are going well, despite some truly awful weather! The group will graduate at Bournemouth parkrun on Saturday 4th April. To show our support, the Club will be taking over all the volunteering roles for the event. Thank you to everyone who has signed up to help so far. We do still need more help, especially marshals, token sorters, finish tokens, a number checker and a photographer. If you can help, please CLICK HERE and put your name down! Thanks in advance.

Poole AC – The PB Challenge!

Saturday 23rd May 2020 Sponsored by Breeze VW

The PB Challenge is being organised by Poole AC and is an afternoon of racing which is designed to challenge you and bring out the best of your ability. The event will host a series of 10,000 metre and 5,000 metre races which will include the Dorset County and the South West Inter Counties 10,000 metre championships for male and female athletes. There will also be a Sub 6, 2000m Steeplechase targeting athletes that have already run under 6 minutes, but also for those that want to break the 6-minute barrier. Invites to some athletes are being sent out now, however entries for all athletes that have achieved the standard that we have set are NOW OPEN!!!

So you will need to reply swiftly as there are limited places available.

We are passionate about running here in Dorset and have listened to those of you that want to be able to race in races to the highest level that you can. Therefore, we have created this event so that you can have the opportunity to do just that and see if you can achieve that new personal best performance or championship qualifying time.

Fiona lost her brother-in-law to a rare bone cancer called Ewing sarcoma at 27. She watched a vibrant young man wither away and vowed that she would appreciate the body she has and run.

During this time, she met Rob who also has a very rare terminal sarcoma. He was diagnosed with Synovial sarcoma in 2019 and became an active fundraiser for Sarcoma UK.

She hopes that we can create an awareness of sarcoma by going out and appreciating the lives we have and seeing social media full with photos of everyone dressed up with the hashtag #notallheroeswearcapes and she herself will run as Wonder Woman at Virgin London Marathon 2020.
