We’re back in business!

Club sessions are starting back on Tuesday 1st September, and all members have been emailed out details of how to book a place on a Tuesday session via our Eventbrite page. We hope to bring back Thursdays and Sundays in due course.

Tuesday sessions are limited to 12 runners and will open for booking at 8am on Wednesday the week before. Places filled up quite quickly when booking opened on 26th for runs on 1st September. Please do use the waiting list function if the run you are interested in appears to be full – if somebody drops out then the first person on the waiting list will be offered the spot. Also, the waiting list will enable us to gauge levels of interest for the session, which will be very helpful to the coaching team. To add yourself to the waiting list, go to the session of your choice and instead of being able to register, it will offer you the option of the waiting list.

Thanks to everyone for their support as we navigate our way back to club sessions!

Membership Fees

All members have been contacted with details of how to renew their membership. Thank you so much to those who have done so already. Please remember that if you are a first claim athlete with LDH, then your fees need to be paid by 31st August in order to ensure your individual athlete affiliation does not lapse. Unfortunately, this tight deadline is an England Athletics deadline and is not dictated by the club. Any issues with anything to do with membership fees, please contact Ken via k.ballam@btinternet.com

A note from the Head Coach

“L&G’s, hopefully by now you will have received the email explaining the process for our return to club sessions commencing next Tuesday. I would like to bring your attention to 2 points, firstly, there has been differing levels of running activity within the membership during lockdown, with some members able to train regularly and others who have found it difficult to train for many reasons. If you are unsure of your fitness levels can I suggest that you drop down one from your normal group, i.e. if you would normally do Blue then perhaps do Red for the first week. Whilst we would normally encourage runners to venture out of their comfort zone, we are keen to keep the number and duration of re-groups to an absolute minimum to reduce the potential to break social distancing guidelines.

Secondly, and more importantly, if you turn up on a club night without having a place booked and confirmed you will be putting a Coach in a difficult position as it will be up to them to politely turn you away, this is an added pressure Coaches can do without so I respectfully ask you not to turn up if you don’t have a place booked and confirmed.

I thank you all in advance and look forward to seeing you in the coming weeks.
Paul Turle (Head Coach)”

EA Weekly 30 Challenge

The weekend just gone saw the 10th week of the EA Weekly 30 challenge. Results for all 10 weeks can be seen on the ‘Members’ page of the club website, under the ‘Social’ section. Now that we are returning to club activity, and as numbers of those taking part in the challenge are starting to drop off, we will no longer be collating the results for the website each week.

Well done to everyone who has taken part – the challenge is still ongoing and Harriers are still bossing it!
