Littledown Harriers

MARCH 2010 UPDATE

Member’s Enclosure

Thanks to everyone who attended the quiz night - £150 raised for Charity courtesy of some very clever Harriers. The final winners were ‘Youth + Experience’ 72.5 pts (trophy presented) closely followed by the ‘Furry Muffs’ 66 pts. The Wooden Spoon (still to be presented) went to ‘Norfolk ‘n’ Chance’ 49pts who narrowly beat the ‘Dipsticks’ into last place 49.5 pts. The losers had the most appropriate team name winning an additional prize.                                                                                                                                      B

+ First Aid +

On Sunday 28th February 2010, 9 club members attended a First Aid Course. The content was geared towards what might reasonably be needed in case of accident on a club run or race. The Course was very useful, particularly the practical sessions. The attendees included 7 Coaches and 2 Volunteer membersThis means that we should have a trained first aider on virtually every club session that we run.

First Aiders:

Gary Barnes, Kevin Dowsett, Janet Hooper, Gary Kirkby, Heather Khoshnevis, Peter Spieler, Gary Worsley, Sarah Hole, Jon Woods.                                                Janet H

One club night in April when the clocks are changed and the evenings lighter come along in club vests for a club photo. This will go on the NEW home page.  Watch your emails for more details.

Fast and flat that’s true, but no mention of the headwind on the way back. A new local race and for a 1st event, all looked to go well with a nice sports bag for all the women finishers. The race had that buzz that you use to get years ago when races were organised locally and all had their own idiosyncrasies.  We were easily the largest club and it was good to support a local school event as many of our members have family who either went to or are still at the school.  B

44 Harriers completed the 20 miles, surely a record, that’s 880 running miles between us. Running conditions were perfect and the organisers clearly worked hard on the parking, number collection and marshalling to cope with the increased Mad March entry. The orange glow of LDH was everywhere. Well done to all who ran, some better prepared than others. It’s a great pre-marathon race, congratulations to the organisers. Runners take something positive from the day…even if only to remember to enter the 10 miler next year.  B
