* Michael Pugh currently 4th place in Running Tree Series

Report: Well, when I titled this "hot" ...I was referring to the sunshine, but actually, I think it was the "hot Harriers in Hoburne" that would be more appropriate!   Yep...we overtook yet another event!   I’m pretty sure that it won’t be long before we are ruling the world!!

Everywhere you looked today…it was orange, orange and more orange.....and then our beautiful flag appeared!!  Well that certainly flew high and proud today!! There were 8 lovely ladies there...well...7 and me!!   and lots of our male counterparts too....everyone appeared to be happy at the end, so another good day was had by all.

The men went home with 2 prizes, Adrian Bonner (2nd overall) fantastic! and Mark Packer in his age category....I will allow Ben to do the honours for the men, so ladies...here we go one more time.......Well done to us all, and special well done to Carmel who has only just started running again since her foot op, great to have you back Carmel.

Thank you to the "Harriers Supporters" team, although I’m wondering if they really deserved that enormous roast dinner just for standing there and clapping!!!

Just a last quick footnote, ladies, it would be great if we could get a team in the Goldhill 10k this Sunday.  It is a league race and we are doing extremely well so far.  There are quite a few of us away doing the Eden Project Marathon, so at the moment there is just Nikki and Caroline doing Goldhill.  I’m hoping that Vicky may be able to run also, but if anyone else is able, then that would be great.  If you are able to run and want to share a lift, then email me and I will try and sort this for you.  Thanking you in anticipation of floods of willing runners!!!!!    See you all soon.                                                                                                              Hev K - Women’s Captain

Report: By the looks of it I was the only Harrier not racing!  Had the chance to get the inside info now so I want to join in with Heather's congratulations and mirror Shuck-ies words of how great it was to have such a turn out.  Main honours go to Adrian for 2nd place overall, Mark Packer 2nd vet (5th overall), and Gary 3rd Vet (9th overall) - some great times in testing conditions - and well done for everyone that completed the race in what I can announce was the hottest Hoburne 5 since records began.  Also it appears the Hoburne 5 had it 1st ever Pace maker this year!
Cheers
Ben R - Men’s Captain

Report: I done it - and I have the 3 lost toenails and sprained ankle to prove it!  3 marathons in 3 days along the coastal path over the hottest 3 days of the year - loved it.  Walked and trotted most of it as it was very tough, especially day 3 when even racing snakes take 5 hrs (more like 10 for me) but the scenery was amazing - thought I was in the Med or Caribbean.  Think a sea of orange next year would be impressive.  I want to complete the treble & do Pembrokeshire next.  Col has spent 3 full days hanging around - he's knackered!  Sorry I'm no good to you all for Goldhill with or without a sprained ankle but like to hear how you're all doing.                                                                                                                       Ness L

THE EDEN EIGHT ON TOUR IN CORNWALL

Report: ....I haven't done a race report since Jungfrau last year, but I'm back for one night only!

The Eden Project Marathon & Half-Marathon are a couple of tough races around the Cornish clay pits, with quite a few hills and this year mud to contend with! Great races, great support, a pint & pasty at the finish.....a fab weekend!

On the way home from Cornwall Kathy impressed us with her magic skills by turning a slice of carrot cake into one of Heather's socks! Actually I wasn't that impressed as it was my slice of carrot cake! ….we stopped for lunch in Princetown, the home of the Dartmoor Discovery 32 mile Ultra and booked the bunkhouse for next year.....organised or what.

As for the race itself, it was very well organised, a good pasta party on the Saturday night, a nice t-shirt and medal and of course that pint & pasty at the finish... congratulations to Kathy 1st  in her age category and to Kathy, Heather, Michelle & Naomi - 1st Ladies Marathon Team..... Collecting 5 bottles of wine. Photos on Face book.

If you fancy a weekend away then put the Eden Project Marathon or Half-Marathon in your diary for next year.                                                                                                      Ade H

Report: What a great day to be running at the seaside!!  ......  Nicely undulating and not the fastest of 10 mile courses but the ladies conquered in style, all four of them finished in tremendous times.  Egdon Harriers website has a picture of Emma, alongside Williard (Poole Runners) winning their respective races and beating the course records!!!  Woooooo...bet that cost Egdon a penny or two on the day!!!   HUGE CONGRATULATIONS go to Emma Dews for such an amazing achievement, closely followed by Master Packer but Emma got there in true Lady Harrier style 23 seconds ahead.....Well boys...what can we say!

Great performances also came from our Miss Champ...Nikki Sandell and Caroline Martin who despite injuries, just carries on having done all the League races so far. A mention must go out to Helen Gilbert, a recent new member, who is just getting stronger and faster in every race.

The ladies team came 2nd which is fantastic as there were some good club teams, great work! A brilliant day.  Well done                                                                  Hev K - Women’s Capt
