Littledown Harriers 20th Anniversary:
The
Harriers will be having a week of celebrations, starting at the
Wayfarers
Relays
on Sat 24 July 2010 culminating with a
Party on
Sat 31 July 2010 at the Littledown Centre. Put these dates in your
diary. More details to follow…
Number Changing:
At a recent Dorset Road Race meeting, the problems associated with
runners changing their numbers and not notifying the organisers in
advance was discussed.
Health and Safety -
In the event of a runner being taken ill during a race or a major
incident occurring at a race, it is imperative that the correct
'next of kin' is notified as quickly as possible. To assist this
it is also extremely important that you fill in your personal
details on the back of your number, where requested. First Aid
information could save a life.
Race Organisers
- They work tirelessly to run a well organised event, with timely
and accurate results. One main problem encountered relates to
number changes, results and prize-giving (including
CC),
where runners have exchanged numbers with someone in a different
age or even sex category. Some race organisers say 'strictly
no exchanges’, other races may set up a desk to allow you to make
last minute amendments. Please respect their wishes. Remember…If
you change numbers for the London Marathon and get caught, you
will be BANNED from all UK athletics races for LIFE!
1.
Enter races early
2. If
you do need to take over someone else's number only do it with the
consent of the organisers.
3.
Complete personal details on back of number
Charity of the Year:
We would like to nominate a ‘Club Charity of the Year’. The Club
would make a single donation from any excesses of funds that we
may have and runners would be encouraged to support the charity
during the year. Members nominate a deserving local non-profit
making charity. The Committee will review all nominations,
if agreed, vote taken by members at yearly AGM.

…
Fantastic!........so well organised, friendly and although the
weather was a little unkind was so pleasant to be part of! Please
congratulate everyone involved today.........the water stations were
brilliant, the idea of the "personal" drinks station was fantastic,
the medal was good, the goody bag was great, the minibus
unbelievable.............I will be back next year if I'm lucky
enough to be quick enough to enter! Thanks for a great race (Web
posting). |
