really tough race, both in terms of the course

two other runners from Littledown there!

Portland 10 mile race saw a return of the 'Guns' and a 17 strong men's
team!!!
Saluting our
top 3 Harriers. Top Gun: Mark Packer, Pistol Pete Peter: Peter
Hellawell, I don't need a gun: Gary Worsley. Also great to see a
return from the marathon from Jon and Richard… by the looks of it the
1st DRRL Podium finish of the year for the team!!!
Cheers,

Women’s
Report:
Hi, great day out had by all in sunny Portland! A lovely team
atmosphere from the Harriers as usual, which makes it so enjoyable and
supportive. It’s pretty hilly all round, especially the last couple of
miles which tests your energy reserves, so quite tough but there was a
lovely breeze for a large part of the race. The views are lovely out
there and the journey out was worth it. I thought it was well
organised, plenty of water stations and some nice little prize
mementos… Oh, and a lovely sports towel on finishing too. We did well on
the prizes, the first four ladies got the
2nd
team prize,
well
done Heather, Hayley, Naomi and Kathy and also well done to Janet who
won an age cat. prize.

Report:
Hello all, I think there was a very fast and close race today in Swanage
from our ladies. From what I can see the famous four were keeping it
tight and pacing fast and focussed!! Leading in was Heather on her
shoulder was Hayley, not far behind was Tracey and on her shoulder,
Kathy. Also another 3 ladies running in well were; Naomi, Sam and
Maxine. Great day by the looks of it, well done girlies!
See
ya Sarah H Women’s Capt.
Report:
Hi Sarah, yes you’re right...it was a very tight and close shave between
us all, and I must say that Hayley did absolutely fantastic as she
started behind us all and worked her way through each and every one of
us ladies, she passed me at about 10.5 miles and was pulling away very
strong. I was very lucky to have the benefit of a downhill section at 12
miles and was able to get back and stay there...but I knew dear Hayley
was there, and we both fought hard after a very tough race, and like you
said, Tracey and Kathy were right there as well. What a fantastic sight
that must have been, all so close and bright and proud in our tangerine
vests! We got the
1st team
prize,
and I also won the
2nd vet
prize.
So we left the Littledown mark in Swanage :-). Well done to
Naomi, Sam and Max and all the Orange boys who also did some tremendous
times and PBs. A good day out was had by
all! Hev

Report:
There was a welcome return to the Littledown team to our Iron Men -
Paolo having just completed his ninth, and Greg his first Iron Man
Triathlon –amazing achievement congratulations to you both! However I’m
sure I wasn’t alone when I saw Greg at the start of the half marathon
and whilst congratulating him for achievements in Nice was secretly
thinking ‘that’s one less Championship point for me today then’ and so
it proved…..
The Swanage
half marathon was one hell of a gruelling race in itself - hills after
hills after hills….. It did however appear that some of the boys hadn’t
read the script and went on to beat their Personal Bests!!!
Wayne
Walford-Jelks – sponsored by duracell
Mike Pugh –
must have been the extra energy from the fish and chips you had just
before the race J
Mike Neal –
latest member of the sub 100 mins club!
Steve Scally
– man of the race for me for destroying his previous PB. The man’s on
fire, New Forest 10, Swanage Half, watch this space eh!
Of course a
salute to the top 3 Harrier Men
1. Greg
‘The Iron Man’ Pienaar
2. Peter
‘Hamish’ Hellawell
3. Gary
‘The Show Boat’ Worsely (I’m sure I saw you run an extra loop around a
water station at one point!)
And to the
ladies for winning the team prize, and the rest of the men’s team a
very, very well done, I know how much that race hurt (and if you didn’t
see me at the finish – trust me it showed!).

A group of 2 Harriers (Greg Pienaar & I) were in Nice, for Ironman
Triathlon on the 27th of June 2010. Ironman is a great event consisting
of: Swim 2.4m, Bike 112m, Run 26.2m Marathon. The event has such a great
camaraderie and atmosphere. Usually with a cut off of 16-17hrs. Most
finishers waited around to cheer in the final finishers. Greg had a
cracking race, this being his first attempt at the distance. Finishing
in an amazing time of 11hrs 4mins 46secs. (40th out of the swim). Well
done Greg!! Amazing... & me in 12hrs 51min.

Report:
Just thought I’d drop you a line to let you know that Adrian
(Bonner), Paul (Milliard) and I did the Kamikaze at Mapperton Farm
near Bridport.
We got very muddy and it certainly wasn't ever going to be one for
a PB, but we all had a lot of fun and really enjoyed
ourselves! Our results are as follows; 8th place - Adrian 1:14:01.
15th place - Paul 1:17:20.
51st place - Caroline 1:34:12 (3rd lady).
The pic shows you how filthy we all were.

Coming Events…
24
July 2010 (Saturday) WAYFARERS RELAYS
plus disco, camping and Sunday morning run.
This is fast
approaching and is the start of our week of 20th anniversary
celebrations so it’d be great to get lots of runners / family / friends
along. It’s a low-key fun event and very much a social weekend for
Dorset running clubs!
Location: Wayfarer’s cricket club just outside Ferndown.
Time:
Relays start at 3pm
Barbecues and silly games: from 5:30pm
Bar
opens: as soon as the relays finish.
Disco:
from 9pm
Bring your
running shoes, barbecues, tents, dancing shoes … & your families and
friends along (children very welcome). The more the merrier!
Here’s the
info on the running bit: - Distance is just less than 3 miles on flat
off-road country tracks
- Men’s and
mixed teams are 6 runners, ladies teams 4 runners. We need to make a
list of runners and sort out teams. We usually organise mixed ability
teams to make it a friendly intra-club competition. All you have to do
is give your details to the Littledown organiser. Tracey L
