Report from Vincent (Men’s Captain): Less than a week as Captain and already a report, first one for me and last one for a great year for the Club. I can’t believe that I proposed myself for the role but it came so naturally because of the welcome, friendliness and encouragement I received from all of you at Littledown so thank you for making me feel part of it and for all your kind messages.

I am very proud and excited to be acting as Men’s Captains for the next 6 months and it will be a good challenge taking over from Ben who has been very inspiring. I would like on behalf of all of us to wish Ben and his family “bonne chance” in is new venture.

Sunday was the Christmas 10k in Burton who traditionally gets booked up very early and for most of us is the last race of the year. Always a good atmosphere there, full of familiar faces including lots of Harriers either to race (about 25), marshal (one I recognized) or cheer. Most of you are familiar with the course which is flat with few locals including the cows and marshals to cheer you along.

I can’t resist and have to mention that once again our ladies stole the show with first Harriers, first women, first age group… but will leave the honour to Heather to reveal details on that!

It was then time for a free large bowl of delicious cream of root vegetables served with warm crusty bread … now you wish you were here too! Only joking, the soup was only an instant one served in a cup without bread but a nice gesture and good enough to warm you up. With still plenty of time before prize ceremony we then headed up to the local pub for a glass of very slowly served mulled wine but worth the wait. Well done to everyone, with pictures are already on Face book thanks to Naomi.

Looking ahead Thursday 22nd is Barry Light’s birthday with his opening marathon, the first of his 60 challenge. Look on Barry’s website for full details http://60in60at60.com

Keep running - A Bientôt!

Report from Heather (Women’s Captain):   Better late than never to tell of these wonderful results from the very popular Xmas Pud 10k... I notice that Carmel was soooo desperate to get a place that she was 1st to enter …

11 beautiful ladies ran on Sunday....and then there were 11 Ladies from Littledown Harriers!! Ha Ha!  I am beginning to sound boring now as I have to keep repeating how amazing you all were....PB's by the plenty, a 1st place lady by Emma Dews, 1st F50 Kathy Fooks and 1st F Team (Emma, Kathy and Tammy). Well done to all of you, superb turnout and I understand that it was mighty windy in the last mile and a half...

Well done for a fantastic year, and thank you for making my role as Ladies Captain so easy because you have all been so brilliant :-))    A New Year is pending and the start of the 2012 Dorset League.  We have done so well to be 2nd this year and so very close to being 1st.....and really we only started picking up our points in the 2nd half of the year due to lots of injuries from some of us, and then we had some miracle runs by many of you, and found ourselves in a very top pressured position.  So in 2012we can start from the very beginning, a very good place to start!!  We mean big business against all other Dorset Clubs, I think we may have a bit more competition next year...we need to look out for Poole Runners, Bournemouth Joggers, Bournemouth AC and Poole AC....all lovely girls, but when the race is on. We know who is best, don’t we :-)

Christmas day run
